What does the Czech Community, Normandy & WesTen have in Common?
A long time before WesTen was deemed a “place”, Bill Blecha was a resident who worked for Manahattan Construction (still in OKC) in the 1920’s and 30s. He decided to use salvaged items from all of his jobs to build a “castle” for his private residence in the 1940s fashioned after one he had seen while a soldier in Normandy.
The Oklahoma Hall of Fame Magazine (author Carol Bond & photogroahper Doug Hall) has highlighted the story of our early neighbors, the Blechas, the connection to the Czechoslovakia commuity and what is now Castle Falls Restaurant & Venue.
