2020 is the 100-year anniversary of women receiving the right to vote and is commemorated in March’s Women’s History theme of “Valiant Women of the Vote.”   All of us know valiant women; women who possess courage and determination.

What you might not know is there is a gathering of valiant women each Friday in WesTen and they are known as The Vine.  These neighborhood women gather at Reaching Our City (ROC) for a lunch, a time of community and to hear a word of encouragement.

These WesTen women may not be in our history books like the valiant women who fought for the vote but their extraordinary courage and determination is  displayed in ordinary everyday ways right in our back yard.

Note:  The Friday gatherings are temporarily on hold due to the public health crisis.
