Locally Thankful: OKC Police Champion

The 2024 first quarter awardee for Locally Thankful: OKC Police Champion is Officer Alfredo Lopez-Soto from the Southwest Division.

While working patrol he stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and detained the suspect for not having a driver’s license.  The suspect attempted to flee and began fighting with the officer.  During the fight, the suspect retrieved a handgun from his waist and a struggle ensued for the gun.  The suspect fired but no one was hit.  The officer was able to hold the suspect until other officers arrived and help take the suspect into custody.

The officer was serving the residents of Oklahoma City, during a routine traffic stop and found himself caught up in a fight for his life.  Officer Lopez-Soto remained professional and stayed in the fight until the suspect was successfully arrested.  A video of the incident can be viewed here.
